In Marion, Missouri, the missing don’t leave tracks. There is no U-Haul, no forwarding address, no goodbye — only a chair that is one day empty, and a town with a long, practiced gift for not noticing. And there is a kind old man who goes door to door with the good news that you’re not alone anymore.
